Visa News

Heenan & Browne Visa and Migration Services is excited to share updates about the 2024-25 NSW Skilled Migration Programme, now open for skilled visa nominations. This programme offers a streamlined pathway for skilled migrants and their families looking to continue or start a new life in New South Wales. Below are the main updates to the programme:

NSW Priority Sectors

The programme targets areas critical to addressing persistent skills shortages and supporting industries undergoing significant changes, including:

– Construction: Infrastructure and housing development.

– Renewables: Focus on net zero and clean energy.

– Care Economy: Includes aged care, disability services, and early childhood education.

– Digital and Cybersecurity: Enhancements across all sectors.

– Education: Emphasis on teachers.

– Agriculture and Agrifood: Boosting agricultural innovation.

– Advanced Manufacturing: Advancing manufacturing technologies.

Published Skills Lists

Skills lists for the 2024-25 programme year are now available. These are categorised at the ANZSCO unit group level for both the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491). It is important to ensure your occupation is listed as eligible for the NSW State Nomination before commencing the nomination process.

Invitation Rounds and Nomination Pathways

Subclass 190 Visa: Regular invitation rounds will commence soon and continue until allocations are filled. Maintaining an up-to-date Skill Select EOI with valid supporting evidence is crucial for eligibility.

– Subclass 491 Visa: Pathways 1 and 3 will open shortly, with detailed criteria available. Additionally, a new pathway for recent graduates from regional NSW institutions is being introduced for easier access to NSW nomination.

Financial Concessions and Process Enhancements

– TSMIT Concession: Select occupations under Pathway 1 may see a 10% concession on the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold, aiding in meeting the income requirements.

– EOI Submission: The process has been simplified; any valid EOI marked with NSW will be considered during the invitation rounds. The nomination application fee has also been adjusted to A$315 plus GST for in-Australia applications.
