Visa News

The latest Canberra Matrix invitation round for Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 visa state nominations took place on 30 January 2025, with a fixed number of nomination places available each month. The highest-ranked applicants in each occupation were invited to apply for ACT nomination. The selection cut-off depended on factors such as the monthly allocation, submission date and time, occupation cap, and demand. The greater the demand for an occupation, the higher the required Matrix score.

 Key Highlights:

– Minimum ranking score: The minimum ranking score is only indicative and does not guarantee an invitation.

– Exclusions: Invitations are not issued to applicants with an active application in the system or those who have previously received ACT nomination.

– Priority Processing: Submissions in critical sectors may be prioritised.

Interesting Facts About the Canberra Matrix and Nomination Process

– The Canberra Matrix is a unique points-based system that considers factors like employment, residency, and community engagement.

– Long-term Canberra residents and Small Business Owners receive priority points in the ranking.

– Critical Skill Occupations often have higher invitation rates due to demand.

– The Subclass 190 visa provides direct permanent residency, while the Subclass 491 visa leads to PR after meeting work and residency requirements.

– The ACT allocates a fixed number of nomination places each month, so missing an invitation in one round does not mean you won’t be invited in the future.

 Important Notes

– Requests for ranking information: The ACT Government does not provide information on individual rankings or the likelihood of receiving an invitation.

– No priority based on personal circumstances: Invitations are not influenced by factors such as visa expiry dates or critical birthdays.
