Do you have a job offer in Australia and a sponsor willing to sponsor you? The newly introduced Skills in Demand (SID) Visa (Sc 482) offers a flexible and promising pathway to permanent residence for skilled workers.

This announcement was long-awaited by many applicants eager to apply for a work visa in Australia. Significant updates include a reduced work experience requirement, now only one year, making it easier for skilled individuals to qualify. Please note, that the SID visa will soon replace the current TSS visa, with existing short-term and medium-term streams closing to new applications. The transition is set to commence in 2024.

This visa will be valid for up to 4 years and cater to three distinct streams:

Specialist Skills Stream: Designed for the creme de la creme of the workforce, this stream is ideal for highly skilled migrants earning a minimum of $135,000 annually. Suitable for professionals in all sectors except trades, machinery operation, driving, and labouring, this stream provides a straightforward route to Australia’s thriving sectors where your expertise is most needed.

Core Skills Stream: Responding to Australia’s evolving job market, this stream introduces a dedicated Core Skills Occupation List and a Core Skills Income Threshold, specifically tailored for skilled employees in pivotal industries.

Labour Agreement Stream: Formerly known as the TSS Labour Agreement stream, it has been revamped to the Skills in Demand Labour Agreement stream, focusing on sectors with acute skills shortages as agreed upon in labour agreements.

Whether you’re a prospective applicant under the Specialist Skills Stream or an Employer willing to sponsor an overseas worker, each path under the SID visa is designed to support your career trajectory or business needs in Australia.
