The subclass 103 visa lets parents live permanently in Australia if they have a child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
Parent Visas
Australian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their parents to migrate to Australia. You must be sponsored by one of your children who must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident who is settled in Australia. You must also pass the “balance of family” test, which specifies that at least half of your children must live permanently in Australia or you must have more children living permanently in Australia than in other single country. An assurance of support must also be provided during the first two years in Australia.

Parent Visa (Subclass 173)
The subclass 173 visa lets parents who are outside Australia live in Australia for up to two years if they are the parents of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
What you can do
live in Australia for up to 2 years
work and study in Australia (you will not receive government support)
apply for a permanent Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143) visa
Applicant requirements
be sponsored by an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian Permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen
meet the balance-of-family test
meet all visa conditions and follow Australian law
not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa
Parent Visa (Subclass 143)
The subclass 143 visa lets parents live permanently in Australia if they have a child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.

apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible
Applicant requirements
have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway
meet the balance-of-family test, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway or hold a Subclass 173 visa
have an Assurance of Support, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway
not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa.
Parent Visa (Subclass 804)
The subclass 804 visa lets older parents live permanently in Australia if they are the parents of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia
What you can do
stay in Australia as a permanent resident
sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia
if eligible, apply for Australian citizenship.
Applicant requirements
have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia
not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa
Parent Visa (Subclass 884)
The subclass 884 visa lets older parents live in Australia for up to two years if they are the parents of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
What you can do
live in Australia for up to 2 years
work and study in Australia (you will not receive government support)
apply for a permanent Contributory Aged aren’t (subclass 864) visa
Applicant requirements
have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen
be old enough to receive the Australian aged pension
be in Australia, but not in immigration clearance, when you apply for this visa and when we make our decision
not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa
Parent Visa (Subclass 864)
The subclass 864 visa lets older parents live permanently in Australia if their child is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
What you can do
stay in Australia as a permanent resident
work and study in Australia
enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare.
Applicant requirements
have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia
not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa
